will.i.am - On Tour

I love dancing and I love music, so it goes without saying that I love dance music and when will.i.am tickets were released for his gig in Manchester, I was quickly online purchasing the best tickets I could get!

To stand or to sit was the question, what do you think is best? Do you go for seated tickets so that you don’t need to rush to arrive, you can happily get yourself to the bar or to the loo as and when required and of course you can sit down whilst you wait for the best bits.
Or do you get standing tickets? Arrive early, get access before many others and scramble your way to the front of the stage for the best views in the house and some space to jump around with the others to the beats?

It’s a tough call, but I think I’m getting too old to sit outside the arena waiting for the doors to open on a cold floor so I opted for seated tickets and got Block 114.
Block 114 in the Phones 4U Arena is really close to the stage, and since we were only a few rows from the front, our view was unrestricted and we were able to arrive just prior to the start – with a beer in hand of course.

Connor Maynard was a support act, as was Leah McFalland although they are both very different, they were equally as impressive and entertaining. (Even if MrMaynards’ taste is a little cheesy!)

Since separating from The Black Eyed Peas, will.i.am hasn’t had many solo hits so I wasn’t sure how he was going to fill such a huge time slot. He performed all of his hits in true Will style and had everyone up on their feet. He followed with a massive DJ set, mixing some classics with recent chart toppers and the crowd went wild. There were laser lights and dancers with a base that made your ribs shake.

Just when you thought it couldn’t get any better, he topped off the show with some of the Black Eyed Peas favourites to give you something to sing to... and those people who clearly thought that it was the BEP’s they were actually going to see suddenly jumped to their feet in relief that they recognised one of his songs!

The audience was mixed, the atmosphere electric, and I’ll be honest, overall the gig was FAR better than I was expecting! Will showed true emotion with his fans, sharing his concerns and fears that come with touring on your own for the first time. He was genuine, down to earth, and genuinely thankful for all those who attended. He make me like him even more – and now I even watch the Voice too!

Did you go to see will.i.am? If so, what did you think?

  1. Looking back to my middle school leaves document I stated Black Eyed Peas to be one of my favorite bands, since then I've loved them as well as the solo spin off projects and even more recently fallen in love with Will.I.Am's personality when seeing more of him on TV.
This looks like an awesome night! I think it's lovely that he had Leah as a support act too. I'd of loved to of gone but fully agree that now I feel far too old to be bothering with the hassle of standing haha

    Best wishes,
    Danielle x
